General Information

Sandy Bear exist to provide bereavement and pre-bereavement support to children, young people, and their families. We work through telephone and face to face support, and with 1:1, family, and peer group support groups where appropriate and funding allows.

We are committed to fulfil our mission that all children, wherever they reside in Wales, should be able to access the right support, at the right time in the lead up to or following a bereavement.

For the successful candidates we offer full training and support to induct you and help you on your Sandy Bear journey. As well as line management and team support, we offer clinical supervision and keen to support personal development with additional training.

Due to the nature of these roles and the rurality of the areas will require access to a vehicle and the ability to travel. Area Leads – West & Mid Wales or South Wales

Our Area Leads are new roles that will add capacity and strength to our team of Bereavement Practitioner’s, Family support workers and volunteers across a defined geographic area. The roles will work with the Head of Service delivery and lead Sandy Bear activity across their designated area, develop strong links across a variety of networks and forums to ensure our beneficiaries access the right support, at the right time.

These roles are great for those passionate about having the opportunity to support our families directly, whilst also being involved in broader development work to enable strong collaborations and partnerships which empower people to achieve better outcomes.

Posts are offered on a full-time basis, though flexible working patterns and some reduced hours may be considered.

Family Support Worker – South Wales

Our family support workers really focus on what we do at a grass roots level. Providing support to families on a daily basis as well as supporting and coordinating volunteers. Prior work with children and families is advantageous as is some knowledge of bereavement. However, full training and support will be given to the successful candidate. This post is offered on a full or part-time basis (Minimum three days per week)
